Aaliyah’s Final Album Coming to Vinyl for Black Music Month

Aaliyah‘s final self-titled is album coming to vinyl in Black Music Month on June 24th, 2022.

Vinyl Me will release it next month, as apart of their subscription service. The album was originally released in 2001 via Blackground Records.

The self-titled third and final album was widely regarded as one of the most influential records of the era. It explores the dramas and complexities inherent to relationships with a blend of R&B, neo-soul and dance-pop, incorporating a mélange of genres to create a unique feel.

Aaliyah” is a living monument to not only the artist’s own personal growth and foray into adulthood, but to a sound that would come to define R&B and an entire era of popular culture at large, inflicting an incalculable influence on future generations of artists to come.

Aaliyah” debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and was poised to bring the burgeoning superstar’s music career to new heights after she had stepped away to pursue an acting career. It netted her multiple posthumous Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Album and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Rock the Boat” and “More Than a Woman.

The album would go on to sell over 10 million world-wide!
